    Allyson, I am currently reading the 7 minute solution, which works well to concentrate on the things you love most. However, I’m in a position where I have to transition from a technical position to a sales position. I have to learn to love visiting with people, calling them, being positive, taking many no’s, etc. How does the 7 minute solution lend itself to that?

    • Hi Brent, That is a great question question. The 7 Minute Solution can help people in sales by helping you narrow down the specific activities that will be most beneficial to helping you sell your products and services. Take 7 Minutes and write down a full description of what you sell. Take another 7 Minutes to describe the needs of the people you are selling to. Then, go to http://www.The7MinuteLife.com and go to the member tools section and download the 7 Minute Life Connections one page worksheet and list 30 people who can help you in your new sales position – be creative and really try to think outside the box for this list. These 30 people can include anyone who can help you become a better sales person – your manager (they can help you learn how to sell) – friends who are sales people in other industries (they can give you great ideas for best practices), and – of course, this list should contain the names of companies and people you want to connect with to sell you products and/or services. But, the biggest encouragement from the book, The 7 Minute Solution – may still be in the 5 before 11 list. Being in sales is a crazy and distracting business, make sure you clarify & prioritize which activities are most important and then – DO THOSE. The difference between being average in sales and being great – is that those who sell more – don’t necessarily do more, they just do MORE of the RIGHT things. Best wishes in your new position.
